Dynamic Contract Size Calculation Based on Stop Loss Placement

Hi ATAS Team,

I’d like to suggest a feature that would significantly improve trade management efficiency. The idea is to allow the platform to automatically calculate the number of contracts to trade based solely on the stop loss position I manually set on the chart. The calculation would be based on my predefined risk amount (in currency or percentage), and the system would adjust the position size dynamically as I move the stop level around before placing the order.

This would be especially useful during fast market conditions, where manual size calculation slows down the execution. Ideally, the size would update in real time as the stop distance changes, until I hit the buy/sell button to place the trade.

Let me know if this could be considered for a future update. I think many traders would benefit from it.

Thanks for your great work!

Oh yes! That functionality really is a game changer (for example in TradingView). Would be great to have it in ATAS! :)

100% support this, it is essential, I hear many traders wondering why platforms don’t have this by default.

A friend of mine just bought the new released (rebranded) Deep Charts instead of ATAS just because of this risk management tool, makes sense as it is very helpful for pro, advanced to beginner traders, you should know quite accurately how much you risk per trade, I see it as basic need.

Didn’t know this request exists under other form so I’ve created a feature idea myself, similar but including hotkeys here:

I guess so, its a shame because this is a really important tool needed on the platform.

We are considering the possibility of implementing the functionality you suggested. At the moment, you can use the long/short position tool on the platform, which allows the platform to automatically calculate your position size based on the stop loss you set using this drawing tool (the risk amount is specified in the drawing tool’s settings).

This would be greatly beneficial us traders! The most important thing when it comes to trading is risk management, I do not understand why something like this isn’t standard on all platforms. PLEASE ADD THE EXTRA FEATURES. You guys are like 90% there already.

Add automatic lot size calculation based on entry, stop loss, and account amount. For example, I want my average risk per trade to be around $200. I really need it so that when entering a trade, after selecting entry and stop loss points, the system automatically assigns the correct lot size based on the risk amount. This is similar to DeepChart and is very suitable for scalping. Current measurement tools are only designed for slow-paced trading. In a scalping environment, trading opportunities are measured in seconds. If you have to measure first, then calculate lot size, and only then enter the trade, the opportunity is already gone.

I started using ATAS just today and was surprised to find I had to calculate the contract size manually.

In my opinion, the best way to handle this is to use the long/short position tool you suggested, while integrating the following features:

      1. Synchronize the tool with the "trade panel" so that the contract size and SL/TP levels are immediately reflected in the panel itself.

      2. Add two buttons to the tool to execute trades directly from it—choosing between stop-buy/limit-sell or stop-sell/limit-buy, similar to the current "trading on chart" function—or alternatively, use keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys).

      3. The tool should account for cross-trading settings to ensure contracts are executed correctly (e.g., using micro contracts instead of mini contracts).

      4. Pressing a button on the tool should open the limit/stop order exactly as the "trading on chart" function does (it would also be great if we can see sl and tp level of the order in the chart, just to remember them).

I believe this is the simplest solution to manage everything without reinventing the wheel.

Of course, the tool could be further improved by adding the ability to set break-even (BE) and multi-level exit strategies directly on the chart, although that might be more complex to implement.

My proposal is inspired by the functionality of cTrader, an excellent platform for CFD trading. And, if im not wrong, also tradingview do the same.

What a great idea and i was thinking about this, I typically use tight stop loss, but sometimes if am putting a wider stop loss, i don’t wanna reduce my position manually to get near equivalent risk amount that i get at tighter stop loss. This feature would auto adjust the position size and risk would be same no matter how tight or wide the stop loss be.

Would love for this Risk Management Tool to be a Main Focus! Please allow us to fully trade from this tool also like TradingView & DeepCharts!
