Dynamic Contract Size Calculation Based on Stop Loss Placement

Hi ATAS Team,

I’d like to suggest a feature that would significantly improve trade management efficiency. The idea is to allow the platform to automatically calculate the number of contracts to trade based solely on the stop loss position I manually set on the chart. The calculation would be based on my predefined risk amount (in currency or percentage), and the system would adjust the position size dynamically as I move the stop level around before placing the order.

This would be especially useful during fast market conditions, where manual size calculation slows down the execution. Ideally, the size would update in real time as the stop distance changes, until I hit the buy/sell button to place the trade.

Let me know if this could be considered for a future update. I think many traders would benefit from it.

Thanks for your great work!

I started using ATAS just today and was surprised to find I had to calculate the contract size manually.

In my opinion, the best way to handle this is to use the long/short position tool you suggested, while integrating the following features:

    1. Synchronize the tool with the "trade panel" so that the contract size and SL/TP levels are immediately reflected in the panel itself.

    2. Add two buttons to the tool to execute trades directly from it—choosing between stop-buy/limit-sell or stop-sell/limit-buy, similar to the current "trading on chart" function—or alternatively, use keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys).

    3. The tool should account for cross-trading settings to ensure contracts are executed correctly (e.g., using micro contracts instead of mini contracts).

    4. Pressing a button on the tool should open the limit/stop order exactly as the "trading on chart" function does (it would also be great if we can see sl and tp level of the order in the chart, just to remember them).

I believe this is the simplest solution to manage everything without reinventing the wheel.

Of course, the tool could be further improved by adding the ability to set break-even (BE) and multi-level exit strategies directly on the chart, although that might be more complex to implement.

My proposal is inspired by the functionality of cTrader, an excellent platform for CFD trading. And, if im not wrong, also tradingview do the same.
